The Tampa Bay, Florida Chapter is the first chapter of Black Connect. Originally scheduled for June 2020 as an in-person, fundraising event, the ceremony was sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Membership
Charter members of the chapter include business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals who reside in Central Florida (Tampa and Orlando areas) including technology entrepreneurs, an owner of a marketing agency, a teacher, a photographer, and a financial advisor. Membership is open to any adult or entity that supports the mission of BC. View Black Connect’s 5 membership categories.
Structure and Purpose of Chapters
Black Connect chapters implement Black Connect’s national programs on the local level may also implement initiatives that increase entrepreneurship in their local community. At monthly chapter meetings, after the chapter business is concluded, the chapter engages in discussions and activities that support the members’ businesses. Members may present a business challenge for discussion of possible solutions, get feedback on a new product or service, practice their business pitch, get advice, make a presentation, explore sales strategies, etc.
Ceremony
The chartering will be led by Black Connect’s Executive Director, Alvin Jones, II and will include remarks by special guests.
