Small Business Formation: Choosing the Right Legal Structure For Your Business

As part of Black Connect’s pro bono Small Business Legal Services Program for small businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations, Winston & Strawn’s Corporate Department will conduct a training on business formation and legal considerations when forming a new business entity. The presentation will cover:

  • The different types of business entities;

  • The concept of limited liability and when it applies;

  • The difference between a C-Corp. and S-Corp.;

  • Important things to consider when deciding which type of entity would best fit your business;

  • How to restructure your business and change from one type of entity to another;

  • The different types of agreements that are needed for each entity type;

  • General tax implications for the different types of business entities.

This training is part of Black Connect’s ongoing series of legal modules intended to help Black-owned and founded small businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations avoid costly mistakes and build sustainable businesses.
